I went to him for my vascular treatment, and from the very beginning, I felt that I was in very good hands. What really stood out to me was how caring and reassuring he was throughout the whole process. He didn’t just treat me and leave it at that — he constantly followed up to check on how I was doing, which I really appreciated. I still remember the day of my procedure. It was found the tupe was choked n u able to carry out the dialysis was was sent to KTPH. Dr Leong was a vascular surgery to clear the choked. The condition caused a lot of discomfort and inconvenience in my daily life. Before undergoing radiofrequency ablation and varicose vein removal surgery, I was understandably nervous. However the nurse on duty reassured me that I would be in good hands and hold me how fortunate that I was to have Dr Leong as my surgeon. That gave me a lot of confidence. The day after my operation, Dr Leong personally called to check on my condition. He took the time to answer all of my questions patiently, which I truly appreciated. One week later, I had my stitches removed and my wound heal quickly thank to the excellent operation I received. Today marks 23rd days since my operation and I had my follow-up review with Dr Leong. He carefully examined my leg and explained my recovery progress in detail, ensuring that I fully understood my condition and what to expect going forward.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had pitting edema in both shins for some time, which caused occasional nocturnal polyuria. After ruling out congestive heart failure, diabetes, kidney and liver issues, a GP referred me to Dr Leong Chuo Ren at VEC. I was diagnosed with bilateral superficial and deep venous reflux in my calves. The reflux in the right superficial calf veins was severe, and that in the left superficial calf veins was moderate to severe complicated by sclerosed thrombophlebitis. Additionally, there was a mild reflux in the left superficial thigh veins. Dr. Leong kindly arranged for an endovenous thermal ablation to be done within a week to ensure that I was still covered by insurance. Prior to the procedure, I was given moderate conscious sedation, though I had no recollection of the procedure after the anaesthetist had given me iv propofol. I woke up shortly after the procedure, which was virtually painless. I ate some snack and dinner shortly after the procedure and was pleasantly surprised that there was no nausea at all, having read about possible nausea as I prepared for the procedure. After dinner I walked around my ward while waiting for transport back to JB. The first week after the ablation was virtually painless. In fact, I was in high spirits - probably as a result of a desirable side effect of the dexamethasone given to me during the procedure. I didn't need a single dose of painkiller for the first week. However, I began to experience nerve pain (ranging from level 3 to 5 on a scale of 10) since day 8 or 9. While the very mild muscle soreness and pulling sensation of the scarred veins are not really painful (and can be managed without painkillers), the nerve pain was not negligible. Given my very thin legs, the nerves near my treated great saphenous veins were probably stunned by the heat during the procedure. As of day 8 or 9, they began sending signals that gave me knife- or graze-wound sensation even when there was no such wound at all. Dr. Leong prescribed pregabalin to deal with the nerve pain. After taking it for 1.5 days, which did significantly reduce the nerve pain, I experienced what looked like a side effect. I stopped pregabalin and tried to put up with the nerve pain. Fortunately, the pain began to subside significantly since day 18, especially when I removed the compression stockings (I had to resume wearing compression stockings since day 15 when I developed non-pitting edema in my right ankle - the edema resolved within a few hours by leg elevation). I've since refrained from wearing compression stockings (while managing occasional ankle edema by leg elevation), which has significantly reduced the nerve pain to level 1, a level that doesn't require any painkiller. Since the ablation, there has been numbness in both inner thighs and calves, probably related to the stunned nerves. However, the numbness has reduced gradually over the past 3 weeks. The obvious pitting edema in both shins before the ablation has become negligible after the ablation. The ultrasound scans on day 2 and day 14 also confirmed that all the treated veins were occluded. All these are very positive signs that indicate that the procedure has been successful. My daily routine was hardly affected by the procedure. I went back to work on day 3 and even took a 1.5-hour flight to Kuching on day 3. I have been walking about 45 minutes a day. I've resumed daily stationary cycling since day 15 and push up and crunches since day 18. I look forward to the day when I can resume running. Dr. Leong kindly gave me his WhatsApp number after the procedure and has provided me with very helpful advice over WhatsApp during the post-ablation period. For this I'm very grateful. Don't let some potential temporary issues (such as nerve pain) stop you from receiving the treatment if you need it. First, not many people have legs as thin as mine. Second, the long--term gain of a solution to the issue of venous reflux, which is likely to progress as one ages , is well worth a potential (but entirely manageable) short-term pain even if you have legs as thin as mine.

I was searching for an alternative treatment for my 68-year-old mother, who had been suffering from varicose veins and stasis dermatitis on both lower legs for almost five years. Having just been diagnosed with cancer and deeply worried that I might have a DVT coz of pain in my calf, I arrived feeling anxious & overwhelmed. From the very first phone call, I felt listened to and cared for. I was given an appointment on the very same day, which immediately reassured me that my concerns were being taken seriously. When I arrived at the clinic, Dr Leong treated me with kindness, dignity, and empathy. At no point was I dismissed because of my weight. Instead, he took the time to truly listen and understand how much pain and discomfort I was experiencing. My legs were extremely swollen and I had reached the point where I could barely walk comfortably up and down stairs, kneel in the classroom, or get back up from the floor without difficulty. I'm fortunate to be recommended to consult with the VEC clinic and struck gold when I met and taken great care by Dr. Leong Chuo Ren. His calm, but clear, demeanour in explaining the proposed medical intervention and solutions took me to an immediate decision to go ahead with him and the VEC. I first met you on 2/3/26 at Mount Elizabeth Novena when I came for wound care on my leg. I requested wound cleaning without any injections. You carefully attended to part of my wound and gave me a lot of reassurance and confidence that it would heal. On the same day, you arranged for me to undergo a scan, which helped identify the cause of the wound. At that time, I was unable to fully settle the payment as I was short of cash. However, you trusted me and kindly said we would settle it next time. That simple act of trust meant a lot to me and reflected the highest level of compassion in care. The following two appointments were done privately, and I later requested to be transferred to a government hospital as I was unable to manage the cost of treatment. You immediately supported and facilitated this without hesitation. What deeply touched me was your consistent follow-up. You messaged and called me the very next day and continued checking in every other days regarding my pain and recovery, reassuring me that I would get better until I was admitted to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. You also never failed to acknowledge my special needs son by calling him by name and taking time to know him. This made him look forward to your appointments as well. I would also like to express my gratitude to you, your wound care nurses, the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital staffs, especially the operating theatre team, and your entire team. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr Leong Chuo Ren for the exceptional care and dedication he demonstrated in treating my 90-year-old father’s wound. My father has underlying conditions, including chronic kidney disease (CKD) and NSTEMI, which made his situation even more complex. When his condition was at its most critical, we were advised by a doctor at SGH that a below-knee amputation (BKA) would be necessary within two days. We sought an urgent second opinion and were fortunate to find Dr Leong who kindly saw us at short notice. Dr Leong went above and beyond by coordinating with the relevant doctors to ensure my father was well taken care of during his admission on Christmas Eve, and he even personally checked in on him on Christmas Day. During the course of treatment, my father was admitted for a blood transfusion due to a low haemogloblin level of 7.2. Although this concern had been raised earlier at SGH, it was not addressed. Dr Leong took the initiative to arrange the transfusion seamlessly, which made a significant difference in my father’s recovery and helped restore his strength and vitality. Subsequently, my father needed angiogram and angioplasty in order to save another toe and a dorsal wound. After surgery my father did not experience any pain or side effects. And he was discharged after 2 days of hospitalization. This was an incredibly difficult time for our family, but Dr Leong’s expertise, patience, and commitment made all the difference. Under his care, my father’s condition improved remarkably—from a critical state to almost fully healed—which feels nothing short of extraordinary to us. We sincerely appreciate not only his medical proficiency, but also his compassion and the reassurance he provided throughout this challenging journey. Thanks to Dr Leong, my father’s leg and toe was saved and dorsal wound healed. We are especially grateful for his consistent follow-ups and unwavering dedication, even while he was overseas. After necessary screening I was scheduled for operation. I almost backed out due to my nervousness and anxiety. But Dr. Leong made everything very easy for me. He listens. I brought my Mum to see Dr. Leong after knowing that SGH would only perform Venaseal. When I enquired about the range of treatments available, the clinic staff is very polite and patient and they even reply after working hours. Unlike the SGH doctor, Dr Leong explained in detail on her varicose vein situation and recommended on the use of microwave/laser to close the veins, which is what we are looking for. However, after insurance pre-authorisation we found out that our insurance coverage for Private Hospital is not sufficient, we put it on hold and began to search for another public hospital and we have to go through consultation and scanning again in the public hospital. While waiting for NUH's appointment, Dr Leong reached out to us and offered to operate my Mum in a public hospital. We are very surprised and grateful, as we know that most private doctors would not want to go back to operate in a public hospital as they already reached the next level and intend to build their reputation in the Private Hospital Sector as the earnings there are a lot better. Dr. Leong performed a perfect operation. My Mum’s swelling veins are gone. Thank you, Dr. Leong, we will always remember you!

From day one, he was the doctor you actually want in your corner — attentive, straight-talking, zero fluff. Walked me through the whole thing: procedure, recovery, downtime — all in plain English. The surgery itself was smooth and his post-op tips had me back on my feet faster than I expected. Professional, genuinely caring, and clearly great at what he does — Dr. Leong made the whole thing feel less like surgery and more like being in very capable hands and the results speak for themselves. I consulted three gynaecologists, and all of them recommended a hysterectomy. At that point, my symptoms were severely affecting my quality of life — heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain during menses, and frequent urination that required me to wake up 3 to 5 times every night. I was so exhausted that I had to rely on sleeping pills, and my work performance was affected. I consider myself very fortunate to have met Dr Leong Chuo Ren. He is a meticulous, patient, and very supportive surgeon who took the time to explain my condition and treatment options clearly. Instead of removing my uterus, he recommended uterine fibroid embolisation, which allowed me to preserve my uterus. The recovery was remarkably fast. By the next day after the procedure, my pain had significantly reduced. By post-operative day 4, I was able to go out for short walks, and by day 6, I had already returned to work. I am a nurse, and my job requires a lot of walking, so this recovery meant a great deal to me. Most importantly, my symptoms are now gone. I am truly grateful to Dr Leong for his expertise and care, and I am very happy that I chose this procedure instead of a hysterectomy. I would highly recommend Dr Leong to anyone seeking fibroid treatment and a doctor who genuinely prioritises patient well-being.

I knew Dr Leong from a public hospital, who is friendly and approachable. I contacted dr Leong for consultation, he replied professionally and suggested vacuum dressing. He has been taking care of my fistula at KTPH for almost three years now, ever since I switched from TTSH. I've gone through quite a few vascular surgeons at KTPH, but Dr. Leong really stands out! I need angioplasty done fairly often, but thanks to his expert care, my fistula has lasted over a year before needing another procedure, compared to previously having one every four months. What I really love about Dr. Leong is how he takes the time to explain everything that's going on during the angioplasty. Though I was apprehensive of undergoing a minor procedure because I personally have never gone for any invasive procedures, Dr Leong gave me a lot of confidence and assurance. Overall I really could not find any areas of improvement as everything was perfect to me. I just want to express my gratitude to Dr Leong and his assistants. Dr Leong has been treating my dad since his first aorta aneurysm emergency 9 years ago at KTPH and was always patient, caring & helpful in his follow-ups through the years. We are extremely grateful that DR Leong made it in time for the first op then and this time, a 2nd planned one 9 years later. Dr. Leong did an excellent job in carefully removing the dead skin and patiently teaching our helper how to clean and manage the wound. After a few visits, her foot has healed well. He performed angioplasty of av fistula for my father. My father has heart failure, is a dialysis patient for a 3 years now and his artery is frequently blocked and need surgery almost every 3 Month. 1) He provided options and used the most appropriate and better internal device to help with my father to ensure the artery block does not come back as often 2) cost saving : He went extra miles to put us at the right facilities and helped us save at least 30-40% cost per surgery 3) he visited my father whenever he is hospitalized, spoke to the doctor in charge to understand his condition and provided us the recommended as well . This is beyond his responsibility 4) Always contactable : he is always contactable whenever we have medical questions and he does not charge us for this advice outside of his clinic.  My father has a renal specialist but she does not provide personal number , but tell us to go hospital or her clinic when we emailed her or call her clinic. Her charges are basics + overtime if we have longer consultation hours. It’s time to change a renal doctor 5) Dr Leong is willing to connect to our other specialists to update the situation and provide the best advise for my father We are lucky we have found Dr Leong. His patient welfare is top priority. Strongly recommend if your family members need any medical attention specially old age folks; who have many illnesses and constantly going in and out of hospitality. Thank you !!
